Pokemon holds a special place in my heart. I’ve got nostalgic over Pokemon Blue, drooled over 3D 1st gen Pokemon sprites, longed for Pokemon cards turned into works of art, and baulked at the price of the rarest Pokemon card in the world. Sadly, I’ve struggled to get back into Pokemon as an adult, and my daughter’s introduction to Pokemon was a disaster. Oh well.
TL;DR: The Pokemon series means a lot to me and I write about it quite a lot.
Today I stumbled upon a piece of YouTube gold and wanted to share it with you all. It’s a 3-and-a-half minute video by How It Should Have Ended (HISHE), which expertly recaps the original Pokemon Blue and Red by poking fun at how ridiculous the whole premise was and is. It is beautifully drawn and expertly animated and had me chuckling to myself like a madman as I watched it.

HISHE made a wide variety of videos and don’t restrict themselves to just video games, having recently made ByteSize Recaps of The Last of Us, and made videos showing how Spiderman 2, The Sonic the Hedgehog movie and even Frozen 2 should have ended. Judging by the handful of videos I have watched so far, their whole catalogue seems to be professionally put together and absolutely hilarious.
