What Is the Next Big Console Game to Come Out in 2020?

BY BJORN THORSON: The year is still young, meaning there are a lot of good games to expect before December. So many people want to find out what the Last of Us 2, Final Fantasy 7, and Cyberpunk 2077 will offer. But beneath the big titles, there are also Indies that could be worth exploring once they come out.

This article covers six of the most anticipated console games of 2020.

CyberPunk 2077

Perhaps no video game is more hyped than Cyberpunk 2077. The fact that it will star Keanu Reeves and will be developed by the creators of the Witcher gives people hope it will be something out of the ordinary.

It’s, after all, based on a tech controlled dystopian city in California. Everything in the megacity looks colorful. Robots run everything, and laws are made by corporations and not the state or the government.

The star character, V, will be customizable in nearly every manner. You can change his voice, hairstyles, background, and clothes, to name a few. His reflexes, intelligence, and cool will vary depending on the mission at hand.

When it comes to weapons, there’s nothing you can’t use. However, the most technically advanced cyberware will be purchased in black markets. V will also be able to buy apartments, do everyday chores, drink and eat as well as complete mini-games.

Against that backdrop, it’s easy to understand why everyone can’t wait to play the game. It’s already won over 100 awards before its release. So anything else other than excellence will be a disappointment.

Kentucky Route Zero: TV Edition

After tremendous success on PC, Cardboard Computer is bringing the latest edition of Kentucky Route Zero to console on January 28. The upcoming version will be the final act of the wildly successful storytelling game.

That’s right, Kentucky Route Zero is all about delivering antique products and telling stories through the fictional route called zero. In between, drivers must complete quick missions to retrieve lost items or fix people’s home items.

If you are open to trying a game that doesn’t involve solving puzzles or using skills to complete missions, try Kentucky Route Zero. People who’ve played it call it “smart, sweet, and incredibly well crafted.” But it will be up to you to decide whether it’s your type of video game.

Resident Evil 3

For a franchise that has been remade into a movie, a TV show, a casino game, and a book, it will be interesting to find out what Capcom will deliver in April. You can play the original Resident Evil 3 to get a feel of what made it famous.

Alternatively, you can kill Resident Evil zombies for a chance to win money at your favorite online casino Canada. There are a lot more slots to play, including many that feature video game themes. Ensure you claim bonuses to extend your gaming time and to maximize your profits.

While slots don’t require skills to play, you’ll need excellent skills to survive the zombie apocalypse in the upcoming Resident Evil remake.  Even if you played the original game back in 1999, you’ll need to polish up your shooting skills to survive.

Ori and the Will of the Wisps

If you played Ori and the Blind Forest and loved it, there’s a new game you should try out this year; Ori and the Will of the Wisp. It will be released on Xbox One and PC on March 11 and will be an extension of the original title.

Precisely, the objective will be to solve puzzles as you adventure the lands beyond the Nibel forest. You’ll also learn about Ori’s life story, his loved ones, and probably discover his destiny. The first edition of the single-player game received rave reviews from critics and fans.

Gamers loved Ori’s gameplay, in particular, visuals, soundtracks, and its virtual world design. Some people criticized its manual saving features, and the developers have responded with an auto-saving design. As such, it’s correct to assume the upcoming title will be an improvement of the original.

Doom Eternal

After the wild success of Doom, id Software can’t afford to release anything but excellence in Doom External. The game will come out in March and will have the fast-paced action that made ‘Doom’ a global success.

The gameplay will be the same. Your objective as a doom slayer will be to take on gigantic, demon-possessed monsters as you listen to the pounding beats of metal music. You’ll have bullets and rockets to fend yourself. But more importantly, you’ll be doom slayer, a walking weapon.

Id Software has been providing demos to critics and influential gamers throughout Europe, Asia, and North America for the past several months. So far, no one seems to have spotted a flaw in the game. And if that’s the case, we are looking at a contender of the Game of the Year.

Overwatch 2

Overwatch 2 will deliver the long-anticipated new story mode but will be careful not to undermine the original. It’s a game played by over 50 million people, and Blizzard wouldn’t dare to annoy them. Jeff Kaplan, however, says the sequel will have a lot of exclusive features that won’t be added to the original.

That means people who genuinely love Overwatch will have to try the new edition sooner or later. You’ll be able to play against people using the sequel. But for the best experience, migrating to Overwatch 2 will be inevitable.

Final Fantasy 7 Remake

After a slew of remakes that didn’t win games over, the upcoming remake looks to be everything gamers have been asking for. As the trailer shows, Final Fantasy 7 remake will be an overhaul of the original, albeit featuring the same themes.

A series of leaks have also helped hype the game because, so far, every leaked image looks stunning. The only disappointing thing is that the game’s release date has been pushed from March to April. Other than that, we can’t wait to play the game.
