Runescape Tips for Beginners in 2019

BY CORMAC REYNOLDS: Not long ago, I started playing a game called Runescape, a game that has been around for almost 20 years now and has given generations of gamers an introduction to MMORPGs.

Since then, I’ve discovered some helpful tips that I wish I would have known from the start. If you are new to Runescape as well, I’ve listed a few of those tips below so that you can avoid some of the problems that I ran into when I was starting:

Use the Wiki

If you have any questions, you can get help by following the link to the Runescape Wiki.  It is a fantastic resource for just about everything you could ever need!

Consider Membership

Membership is definitely worthwhile since it enables you to obtain additional skills. It also gives you a chance to participate in quests that have a treasure hunter key. With a membership, you also gain access to all of the game’s content.

The best part is that you can pay for your membership with gold that you earn through gameplay, so you don’t even have to part with real-world cash. Alternatively, you could buy Runescape gold from third-party sellers and use that to pay for your membership, thus saving yourself money.  This gold can be obtained through Food 4 RS; click here to find out more.

Get Involved

Get involved in as many events and daily challenges as possible. Not only will this help you earn XP bonuses and keys but it also will enable you to alter the appearance of your character.  Gotta love customization!

Hone Your Skills

Figure out what skills you prefer and discover the ways to earn them as quickly as possible. For instance, I increased my combat by participating in slayer tasks. Not only was this fun but it also helped me get more gold.

Know Your Items

Familiarize yourself with important items like Luck Rings, Teleport Portables, and Magic Notepaper.

If you feel like you are stuck in a rut with a particular skill and are looking for something new, try earning XP for different skills by experimenting with mini-games and Distractions and Diversions (D&Ds).

Learn About Additional Skills

Sometimes, you may run into situations where you are having difficulty destroying something. Overcoming difficult challenges in terms of combat is easier when you learn more about summoning the familiars and using potions or flasks. You should also learn as much as you can about Runescape combat techniques.

Set Goals

Goal setting makes the game more interesting. For instance, right now I have a goal of starting at Plague’s End and reaching 99 Slayer.

Avoid Scams

There are a lot of videos on YouTube that outlines some of the most popular scams that people try to run on Runescape. On Twitch, don’t click on any double XP weekend streams in the section devoted to Runescape.

Ask Questions

Too many people are afraid to ask questions, either online or in-game.  Runescape has a great community who are eager to help players who love the game as much as they do.  Just ask if you need help!

And, Finally…

The most important tip to remember, however, is that you should try to have fun. The whole point of playing games is to enjoy yourself – even if they are difficult to play. During the training process, consider taking in the films or listening to the podcasts. The game itself offers excellent content and is a lot of fun to play.

  1. Video games like Runescape 3 are the best option to chill playing in my opinion. Community in old MMO type games is very friendly, people are helfpul and kind for everyone. Even new players can get much more help that in other RPG online games.
I started playing RS 3 about 5 years ago and this was the best what I did in my entire life 🙂 I lvled up and then decided to sell gold and items at online markets. Im always doing it at so I can earn a little bit more 🙂

  2. If getting gold from other sources is something you’d like to explore in RS, may we recommend You can find recommendations from other players/users where to buy your next stash of gold.
