It Still Blows My Mind That Gamers Get Paid To Stream

When I was growing up I’d get told off for gaming too much.  Now people do it for 8+ hours a day and get paid more than me.  That’s crazy.

Here’s the thing: I’m not saying that streamers don’t deserve to get paid.  They work darn hard – many streaming for 10+ hours a day, 7 days a week to make ends meet.  That’s far more than I do in an office cubical and likely more than I do between my day job plus running GrownGaming.

Streaming is hard.  It isn’t an easy life.

But still…those boys and girls (and men and women and other) are living the dream.

My dream.

They game for a living.

They get paid for it.

That’s amazing.

It’s an amazing world that lets anyone hook up a webcam to their gaming setup and try to make it as an online streamer.  There are dozens of factors that come into play to make that casual streamer a successful streamer but with the right ethos, drive and a little bit of luck, anything is possible.
