The announcement of The Outer Worlds by Obsidian in the wake of Fallout 76’s less-than-perfect launch has got fans of the earlier Fallout titles drooling.
In their official trailer, Obsidian showed off The Outer Worlds’ futuristic setting, featuring a more sci-fi influenced world, human NPCs to interact with and an exciting, fresh world to explore.
YouTuber Pretty Good Gaming couldn’t resist sticking the knife into Bethesda with a tongue-in-cheek version of the official trailer, claiming that it “is the trailer Obsidian really wanted to make but legally couldn’t, so we did it instead.”

It made me chuckle, so I had to share it. Sorry, Bethesda. I still love you.
The problem however is that Obsidian already stated that The outer World has nothing to do with Fallout at all, it will be a very small, very linear game more in the likes of The Technomancer. Obsidian was posting a shit-ton of stuff The outer World WON’T have, so that fans of Fallout (New Vegas) won’t be disappointed.
So this said, it might still be a nice budget title but it certainly won’t be a huge RPG in the likes of a Witcher, Dragon Age or … Fallout.
I recommend to try out Elex for the time being, instead.
