Fallout 76 Impressions

From someone who has never played Fallout.

Fans of the Fallout franchise have been weighing in with their opinions on Fallout 76 ever since the soon to be released online instalment was first announced.  With a particularly buggy and underwhelming beta having muddied the waters further, it is hard to know whether Fallout 76 will be a resounding success or a bitter disappointment.

As a Fallout fan, I share Brenden Shea’s concerns and as a result, I’m still undecided whether I’ll be adding Fallout 76 to my collection.

But, how do gamers completely new to the Fallout franchise feel about Fallout 76?

YouTuber TheLazyPeon is fresh to Fallout, as he generally plays online games.  His YouTube channel is littered with first impressions on a variety of MMOs and MMORPGs and his opinions and generally spot on.  Given that Fallout 76 is taking the leap into online multiplayer, TheLazyPeon decided to check it out.  You can see his thoughts below:

It’s interesting to see that even without having played a Fallout game before, TheLazyPeon picks up on the lack of NPCs and direction in Fallout 76.  What is even more interesting is that, without the rose-tinted glasses of fans who have loved previous versions of Fallout (myself included), he identifies all sorts of dated game design decisions and mechanics that some will agree should have been enhanced for a Fallout title being released in 2018.

It will be interesting to see whether Bethesda can significantly improve Fallout 76 before release.
